Alibaug in June
Maharashtra, India
Skip June — monsoon onset shuts beaches, ferries off, Alibaug structurally closed for tourism.
June is when Alibaug closes for the season. The SW monsoon arrives on the Konkan coast typically Jun 7-12; once it does, the M2M Mandwa-Gateway ro-ro ferry suspends operations (formally Apr 30 to ~Sep 15 under MMB rules but practically July onward in heavy years), the Arabian Sea swell reaches 3-4m at the harbour mouth, and the beaches at Alibaug, Versoli, Nagaon and Kashid become dangerous — red-flag warnings near-daily, drowning incidents at Murud/Kashid every monsoon season. Kolaba Fort low-tide walks become risky as storm surge raises the high-tide line. Heritage stays close or drop to skeleton staffing. The mood shifts entirely from beach to internal-stay or full closure.
The June story
Don't plan an Alibaug visit in June. The beach experience is structurally over. If you're committed to Konkan monsoon: pivot to Amboli (Sahyadri scarp, monsoon waterfalls peak — see Amboli/Jun-Aug notes) or to Kolad (Kundalika river rafting begins with dam releases). Save Alibaug for an October-February return when the M2M ferry restarts, Kolaba Fort low-tide walks are stable, and the 25km coast holds 18-30°C with calm seas. If you're in Mumbai in June: better to stay in the city itself than to risk a Mandwa drive in monsoon (NH-66 floods at Apta and the Pen-Roha stretch). Heritage stays at Kihim 50% off but with no beach experience to anchor — just rain-watching from a verandah, which can be its own thing, but isn't why most travellers come to Alibaug.
