The Pulicat Lake Bird Sanctuary (153 sq km, established 1976) on the AP side has the larger viable boat zones. Hotel options thin — most travelers day-trip from Chennai (60km), Nellore (45km), or stay basic at Sullurupeta family lodges ₹800-1,500.
