ASI Amaravati Museum (₹15 entry, 10am-5pm closed Friday) holds the spectacular limestone sculpture panels (the famous "Jataka panels" with early Mahayana iconography that pre-dates the Mathura/Gandhara Buddha-image traditions by ~100 years — these panels show some of the earliest figurative representations of the Buddha in Indian art, dated to ~50 BCE first images of Buddha). Amaravateeswara Swamy Temple (the Pancharama, one of the five sacred Shiva temples in Andhra) at full ritual hours. Hotel options thin in Amaravati proper — most travelers day-trip from Vijayawada (35km, 60-minute drive) using Novotel ₹8-11k or The Gateway ₹9-12k as base.
