Parvati Valley in June
Himachal Pradesh, India
June pre-monsoon heats the lower valley (16-28°C) while upper reaches stay comfortable. The monsoon arrives by mid-June, transforming the valley: waterfalls appear on every cliff, the Parvati River turns brown and angry, trails become leech-infested and slippery. Tourist numbers drop 50% overnight. Landslides can block the Bhuntar road.
The June story
Pre-monsoon June is the last window for comfortable trekking; post-monsoon is a different world. The Kheerganga trail in early June is at its most beautiful—wildflowers, waterfalls, and warm temperatures. After the rains arrive, leeches make the same trail a blood-donation exercise. Kasol in monsoon divides opinion: some love the mist-wrapped, intimate cafe scene with rain on the roof; others hate being stuck in a narrow valley with no views. Tosh in cloud is either mystical or miserable depending on your temperament. The Parvati River in monsoon flood is genuinely dangerous—the valley narrows create deafening rapids. Landslides on the Bhuntar-Manikaran road are annual events. If you're here when the road blocks, Kasol's cafes and the Gurudwara at Manikaran become your world until it clears.
