Peak Season
Morni Hills in April
Haryana, India
April heats the plains below but Morni stays pleasant at 18-30°C. It becomes Chandigarh's primary weekend escape. The lakes are busy with boaters. The pine forest provides genuine shade relief. The adventure park is fully operational. This is Morni at its most popular.
The April story
Peak Morni season means the twin lakes have paddleboats and crowds, the parking area fills by 11 AM on Sundays, and the forest trails see steady foot traffic. But 'crowded' at Morni means maybe 200 visitors—it's not Shimla. The evening drive back to Chandigarh, descending as the sun sets over the Shivalik ridge, is beautiful. For a quieter April Morni, come on a weekday or take the trail past the lakes to the less-visited western ridge—you'll have the pine forest to yourself within 1 km of the parking lot. The Morni road passes through Tikkar village, where local women sell seasonal fruit and homemade pickles from roadside stalls.
