The October story
If the park opens in late October, you get Dudhwa at its most dramatic transition. The grasslands are still tall, the marshes still partially flooded, and the wildlife is adjusting to post-monsoon conditions. Tiger activity increases as territories are re-established. Birdlife is extraordinary as winter migrants arrive daily — the marshes host thousands of waterfowl. The forest rest houses open with fresh paint and fresh linens (relatively).
