Dambuk in August
Arunachal Pradesh, India
Monsoon floods make August the wettest month with landslide risks
August in Dambuk is the second-wettest month and runs much like July. Monthly rainfall 600-800mm. The Roing-Dambuk road remains in cyclical break-and-clear mode; multi-day closures continue. The Dibang River is still at flood stage. Daytime 26-30C, nights 21-23C, humidity 90 percent. Mishmi homestays remain closed. The August 15 flag-hoisting at Roing District HQ ground is the month's sole organised event but it doesn't justify the trip. The Bhupen Hazarika Setu route from Dibrugarh holds, but the onward Roing-Dambuk leg is unreliable. Domestic flights to Dibrugarh take weather cancellations 30-40 percent of days. Power cuts continue at 5-7 hours daily. There is no holiday version of the trip in August; the next functional window arrives in late October.
