Friday-Sunday Gujarat traffic builds — Surat to Daman is 100km on NH48 and 2 hours mid-week, 4 hours Friday evening. Sea-facing hotel rates (Mirasol, Sandy, Cidade) hold January peak through to February 15, then start sliding. Spice Galleon at Gold Beach Resort and Hotel Mirasol's sea-view restaurant are the better Portuguese-influenced kitchens; both take cards. Devka Beach evening shacks run 6pm-11pm.
