Candolim in February
Goa, India
Go in February — Carnival energy, slightly thinner crowds than NYE peak, sea at its warmest, and resort rates ease 10-15% off January.
Peak crowds
February is one of Candolim's busiest months. The score rates conditions — weather, access, value — not how many people you'll share them with. Christmas-New-Year week is the absolute peak — the Fort Aguada Road becomes a slow-moving traffic jam after 6pm. Weekends spike with Mumbai/Bangalore flyers. Wednesday is quieter (Anjuna market pulls daytrippers north).
February in Candolim is the most-coherent of the peak months. Rainfall under 5mm, daytime 23-31C, humidity at 60 percent. Weekend traffic down 30 percent versus December — the resort-spine road parks easier, Bomra's and Stone House dinner reservations come through with 4-5 day lead instead of 7. Fort Aguada (1612 Portuguese coastal fort, free entry, 8am-5pm, 4km lighthouse-and-rampart loop) at the south end of Candolim is at year-best walking weather; arrive 8am or 4pm to avoid the 11am-3pm tour-bus window. Carnival float parade reaches Mapusa (8km, 15 minutes by scooter) on the festival Monday. Saturday Night Market at Arpora (5km, 10 minutes) runs 6pm-late. Hotel rates at peak: Taj Exotica ₹40-45k, Candolim Beach Resort ₹13-15k, Manna Courtyard ₹10-12k. The 4km Sinquerim-to-Calangute beach is at year-best swim conditions; lifeguards at Sinquerim, central Candolim, and Calangute-boundary stations.
