Silvassa in May
Daman & Diu, India
May heat and humidity make outdoor exploration exhausting at sea level
May in Silvassa is the year's most uncomfortable stretch. Daytime 28-39C, humidity 80 percent, the Konkan plains baking and the Western Ghats foothills offering little relief at Silvassa's 10m elevation. Vasona Lion Safari morning visits remain technically possible (lions visible 9-10am) but afternoon slots are essentially empty enclosures. Dudhni Lake glare off the reservoir is harsh past 10am. Pre-monsoon thunderstorms — the southwest monsoon advance touching the Konkan coast — start arriving in the last 10 days and knock grid power for 1-3 hours at a stretch on storm days. The Tribal Cultural Museum becomes the day's indoor refuge. Khanvel and Ras resort pools drive the weekend; Mumbai weekend traffic still flows on Friday 4pm despite the heat. Hotel rates run at year-low — Khanvel walk-in below ₹4,500, Treat Resort below ₹6,500. Push to October if comfort matters.
