Silvassa in December
Daman & Diu, India
Go in December — peak cool weather makes lake outings and forest walks comfortable, tribal craft experiences are accessible, and Christmas markets add festive colour to a quiet region.
Peak crowds
December is one of Silvassa's busiest months. The score rates conditions — weather, access, value — not how many people you'll share them with. Lake and forest destination peaks in cooler season and school breaks; peak monsoon Jul–Aug is quietest.
December in Silvassa is operational peak. Daytime 18-28C, nights 14-16C, rainfall under 15mm. Vasona Lion Safari at year-best lion-sighting probability; the Daman Ganga river runs cool and clear. The Tarpa Festival — typically December 7-9 or 14-16 depending on the year — pulls 8,000-12,000 visitors over 2-3 days; the warli, kokna, and varli dance troupes around tarpa wind-instrument players are the under-noticed Konkan-tribal cultural standout. Christmas-NY week (December 22 to January 2) drives hotel rates up 45-55 percent versus November and books out the Khanvel-Ras-Treat-Lake Resort belt 14-21 days ahead. Mumbai-Silvassa NH48 traffic on December 23-26 and December 30-January 1 hits its annual peak; Friday-evening drives stretch to 7-8 hours. The first three weeks of December run 30 percent cheaper with the same conditions; lock dates pre-December 20 if budget matters. The Kite Festival around Makar Sankranti (January 14-15) sometimes spills into late December.
