Morgaon in May
Maharashtra, India
May is unviable Morgaon. Daytime 30-42C on the Pune plateau — among the hottest stretches in central Maharashtra; the temple stone courtyard hits 50C surface temperatures by noon and holds heat through midnight. The svayambhu Mayureshwar darshan continues but the practical pilgrim experience collapses — even the 5am dawn slot opens at 28C and reaches 35C by closing. The peacock-Ganesh murti with the Nagaraj-cobra and lion-vahana iconography sits in the cool stone interior (33-35C through day) but the open-air pradakshina circuit and the Karha river ghat approach are physically punishing. Karha river at year-low flow — the riverbed dusty. The 64km Pune drive in an AC bus tolerable; the temple visit itself is the failure point. Angarki Chaturthi falls Tuesday 5 May 2026 — dedicated pilgrim flow continues but most committed yatra-pilgrims skip Morgaon through May. Lodgings drop to ₹400-800 deep off-season. Push to October.
