Kadmat Island in September
Lakshadweep, India
Unpredictable ship schedules make September visits risky for stranded travellers
September on Kadmat is the closing edge of the off-season. Kadmat Beach Resort re-opens around September 25-30, contingent on the SW monsoon retreating on schedule. SAMUDRAM cruise from Kochi resumes from end-September. The Lacadives dive school re-opens with reduced staff at 60 percent capacity. Rainfall in the second fortnight drops to 60-80mm, daytime 26-30C, water 28-29C, lagoon viz recovering through 15-20m. The 8km beach is at its emptiest. Lakshadweep Tourism starts issuing permits for late-September arrivals from August 15 — apply 30-45 days ahead. The single ATM near the jetty resumes service with the resort. Workable only if dates are absolute, you can absorb a 5-7 day re-opening delay, and you're comfortable with the soft-launch operating capacity. October 5 onward delivers materially better conditions for the same money.
