Gandhinagar in April
Gujarat, India
Skip — outdoor heritage circuit materially worse. Use Nov-Feb instead.
April is Gandhinagar's heat-onset month — 26-40°C, the planned-capital's tree shade no longer enough, and the working day shifting to early-morning and late-evening rhythms. Akshardham and Adalaj remain operational, but the comfortable visit window narrows to before 10am.
The April story
Outdoor sightseeing severely constrained. Akshardham (closed Mondays) workable only at the 9.30am gate-open through to noon — exit before peak heat. Adalaj Stepwell's lower storeys hold cool air at 25°C even in 40°C surface heat, making it the rare summer-walkable monument. Indroda Park has AC museum interior plus shaded zoo paths. Sant Sarovar Dam at sunset only. The Leela Gandhinagar 8th-floor infinity pool deck becomes the day's anchor. Day-trip to Ahmedabad UNESCO walled city unworkable in afternoon heat — too far for an early-morning-only trip. Hotel rates at year-low for the capital. April is a hub-stop or transit month, not a destination visit. Save Akshardham's deep visit experience for November-February.
