Diglipur in September
Andaman & Nicobar Islands, India
Ferry schedules still too unpredictable for reliable island hopping
Diglipur in September is the cautious tail of monsoon and most of the trip remains unavailable. Rainfall drops to 290-340mm, mostly in the first half. The Port Blair ferry restarts 1-2 sailings per week from the third week. NH-223 reopens stretch by stretch as the Andaman Public Works Department clears washouts; the 290km drive is still 12-14 hours. The Saddle Peak trail does not get its Forest Department clearance until late October. Ross & Smith dinghy crossings restart in early October. So September is reaching Diglipur for very little - the township and Kalipur Beach are visitable but the trail and sandbar are not.
