Peak crowds
October is one of Chidiya Tapu's busiest months. The score rates conditions — weather, access, value — not how many people you'll share them with. Busiest Oct–May during dry season; monsoon and cyclone months Jun–Sep see fewest visitors.
October at Chidiya Tapu is when the half-day trip becomes a half-day trip again. Rainfall drops to 100-150mm, most of it in the first week. NH-223 South is back to full peak-season form by October 12 once Public Works finishes monsoon repairs. The Mundapahad trail has its Forest Department clearance from October 1 in dry years, October 7-10 in wetter ones. Air 24-30C, humidity easing through 78 percent. Sunset point usable from October 10 onward; visibility good but not yet at January standard. Migratory birds start returning in the last fortnight - the first sea eagles and harriers on territory. Bay of Bengal cyclone risk is present but most October systems track north toward Andhra Pradesh.
