Chidiya Tapu in April
Andaman & Nicobar Islands, India
Go in April — bird activity peaks in early mornings, temperatures are manageable before the peak summer heat arrives, but bring water and start hikes before 7 a.m.
Peak crowds
April is one of Chidiya Tapu's busiest months. The score rates conditions — weather, access, value — not how many people you'll share them with. Busiest Oct–May during dry season; monsoon and cyclone months Jun–Sep see fewest visitors.
April at Chidiya Tapu is a heat-shifted version of the same trip. Air touches 28-33C with humidity at 78-82 percent; the Mundapahad loop is uncomfortable after 9am, comfortable before 8am. Birding density drops from the migrant peak but the resident list is intact. The Biological Park stays open 8am-5pm; bring 1.5 litres of water minimum. NH-223 South to Chidiya Tapu is fully open; pre-monsoon road repair work runs the last week of the month and can add 15-20 minutes to the drive. Hotel rates back in Port Blair are 35-40 percent below January peak. Sunset point breeze picks up from 4pm and makes the 90-minute wait genuinely pleasant after the heat of the trek. Last bus 6:30pm.
