Baratang Island in June
Andaman & Nicobar Islands, India
Baratang in June is the day-trip closed by infrastructure. The Andaman Trunk Road through the Jarawa Reserve has 3-4 chronic landslide stretches that close repeatedly through the monsoon - the route is shut for 6-24 hours at a time. Creek boats from Nilambur are off the water on most days as the creeks run brown and fast with mangrove runoff. The limestone cave floor floods to ankle depth in heavy rain, making the back chamber inaccessible. The mud volcano viewing platform is fine in the rare break of weather but the road in is broken. Tour operators in Port Blair stop selling Baratang packages from June 1 to October 15.
