Ajmer in February
Rajasthan, India
Go in February—peak season with ideal 10–25°C weather, walkable heritage sites, and Sufi pilgrimage atmosphere, though Urs crowds can overwhelm if timing aligns.
Peak crowds
February is one of Ajmer's busiest months. The score rates conditions — weather, access, value — not how many people you'll share them with. Urs festival (variable dates) brings massive crowds. Dargah packed on Thursdays and Fridays year-round.
February warms Ajmer just enough to make walking the old city pleasant. The Dargah draws steady but manageable crowds. Ana Sagar Lake, often overlooked, catches beautiful late-afternoon light. This is Rajasthan before the heat turns hostile.
The February story
February is arguably Ajmer's most balanced month. The Dargah experience is intimate enough to actually hear the qawwali singers without crowd noise drowning them. The bazaars around the shrine — Dargah Bazaar and Naya Bazaar — sell rose essence, embroidered offerings, and street food that peaks in winter. Try the sohan halwa from shops near the shrine gate. Taragarh Fort, the hilltop citadel above town, rewards a 30-minute climb with panoramic views of Ajmer and the Aravalli ridgeline. Pushkar adds a half-day of temple hopping and chai by the ghats. Two nights in Ajmer, one in Pushkar — that's the ideal February rhythm.
