Goecha La Approach (Yuksom to Dzongri)
Goecha La Approach (Yuksom to Dzongri) is a moderate 4-day, 28 km trek, topping out at 3,680 m. The route takes in Kanchenjunga views from Dzongri Top (4020m); Rhododendron forests in spectacular spring bloom; Shorter 4-day version of the legendary Goechala trek; 360-degree panorama from Dzongri viewpoint. Best months: March–May and October–November. Watch points: Altitude sickness possible at Dzongri (3680m); no mobile network from Day 2 onwards; permits required — allow 2 days processing in Yuksom. Fitness level: intermediate, permits required, not recommended for children under 14. Nearest hospital: Namchi District Hospital — 110km from Yuksom, 5 hours. Yuksom has a basic health center. Network coverage: No network from Day 2. Jio/Airtel work in Yuksom only.
