September sees the monsoon retreat, leaving Fatehpur Sikri washed clean and green at its base. The sandstone dries to a warm red-orange. Temperatures hover at 30-36°C — still warm but manageable in morning and evening windows. Tourist numbers begin their autumn climb. The site is at a sweet spot between monsoon solitude and winter crowds.
