August is the heart of the yatra season. The pilgrimage begins on Janmashtami (Krishna's birthday). Manimahesh Lake is fully thawed and accessible for sacred bathing. Temperatures are cool (5–12°C daytime). The Gaddi shepherds and the local community are present and actively support pilgrims. The 7 km trek from Hadsar to Dhancho is moderate and well-maintained. This is the spiritually correct window.

The glacial lake at 3,950m below Manimahesh Kailash peak, the destination of the annual Manimahesh Yatra. Pilgrims circumambulate the lake before darshan.
A smaller sacred pool ~1km before the main Manimahesh Lake, where women pilgrims traditionally bathe before darshan.
