Agni Theertham (the sea-bathing beach right in front of the temple's eastern gate) draws pre-temple-entry pilgrims at dawn; pandits charge ₹100-500 for the abbreviated ritual. The new Pamban Bridge (operational April 2024 — India's first sea bridge with a vertical lift, replacing the 1914 cantilever) carries Pamban Boat Mail train traffic; the parallel road bridge is the 2.3km Annai Indira Gandhi Road Bridge. Dhanushkodi day trips (18km drive) workable.
