April Pune is the start of plateau summer — 22-38°C, dry heat baking off Deccan basalt, Sinhagad's loose-stone climb turning into a sun-blasted sweat fest by 10am. Mornings until 8am are workable; afternoons brutal. The city functions normally — air-conditioned cafes, brewpubs, malls and Osho ashram all run — but the heritage circuit (Shaniwar Wada, Aga Khan Palace, Raja Dinkar Kelkar Museum) requires early starts. Sinhagad weekend day-trippers thin out as Mumbai weekenders shift to Lonavala. Strawberries gone by mid-April. Mango season (Alphonso/Hapus) starts late April, partial silver lining for foodies.

Avoid Sinhagad, Torna, Rajgad treks. AC hotels: Westin, Conrad, JW Marriott rates dip Apr-May (off-peak). Heritage tourists building an Ajanta-Ellora circuit should leave Pune by 7am and aim for Aurangabad before noon to dodge afternoon heat. Mango-orchard visits to nearby Saswad-Jejuri belt possible but hot.
