Caution
Prashar Lake in December
Himachal Pradesh, India
December brings Prashar to the edge of winter. The first snowfall can arrive any day after the first week, transforming the brown meadows to white overnight. The lake surface begins to chill toward freezing and the floating island slows its drift.
The December story
The trek is still technically possible in early December before heavy snow, but short daylight hours (sunset by 5pm) compress your window. The trail through bare oak forest is atmospheric — frost on every branch, silence total. If snow has not yet fallen, this is Prashar at its most austere and powerful. Once snow arrives, conditions shift rapidly to winter mountaineering territory.
