Kashid in June
Maharashtra, India
Skip June — monsoon shuts Kashid beach entirely, water-sports closed, drowning fatalities every monsoon.
June arrives with the SW monsoon at Kashid (Konkan landfall typically Jun 7-12). The Arabian Sea swell hits 3-4m, the 3km white-sand strip becomes red-flagged daily with drowning fatalities recorded across Murud-Kashid every June, all water-sports (banana boat, jet ski, parasailing) close for the season, and Phansad WLS internal roads see washouts that suspend jeep safaris. NH-66 from Mumbai floods at Apta and Pen-Roha. Heritage stays close or run skeleton staff. Local Kashid villagers retreat indoors for the rains.
The June story
No June Kashid visit makes sense. Beach safety is the headline risk — every monsoon, Murud and Kashid log drownings as out-of-towners ignore red-flags. The 3km white-sand strip that's the entire reason to come is dangerous. Pivot: if you're committed to Konkan monsoon, go to Amboli (Sahyadri waterfalls peak Jul-Aug — Hiranyakeshi, Nangarta, Shirgaonkar Falls) or Kolad (Kundalika rafting on dam-release peak water). Save the Kashid trip for October-February when sand, sea, water-sports, Phansad WLS and Korlai Fort all return to operation. If you're Mumbai-based: stay in the city, don't risk the NH-66 drive with Apta-Pen-Roha flooding. The Kashid experience needs Arabian Sea calm — October at earliest, November-February ideal.
