Jibhi in April
Himachal Pradesh, India
Go in April — peak greenery, mild temps, and Jalori Pass open; book treehouse cafes ahead as crowds rise early.
April is prime Jibhi. The waterfalls are at good flow from snowmelt, temperatures sit at 10-22°C, wildflowers appear on the hillsides, and the Tirthan River is perfect for trout fishing (permit from GHNP office, ₹100-200). The Raghupur Fort trek is in excellent condition. Serolsar Lake, a 5 km trek from Jalori Pass (3120m), is accessible and the alpine lake surrounded by oak forest is one of Himachal's most magical spots. The backpacker cafes are in full swing — wood-fired pizzas, Israeli shakshuka, and filter coffee alongside local rajma-chawal. Room rates climb to ₹1500-3000.
The April story
Serolsar Lake is April's trophy destination. The trek starts from Jalori Pass (3120m, a 1-hour drive from Jibhi), follows a gentle 5 km trail through oak and rhododendron forest, and ends at an alpine lake surrounded by trees with a small wooden temple. The water is clear, the setting is silent, and if you arrive before 10 AM, you'll have it mostly to yourself. The Raghupur Fort and Chehni Kothi treks are both in prime condition. GHNP opens fully — the Tirthan trail to Rolla and beyond offers excellent birdwatching: Himalayan monals, tragopans, and laughing thrushes. Trout fishing in the Tirthan is excellent in April — the river is full of snowmelt but clear, and the fish are active after winter. The cafe culture is at its most vibrant: live music nights at a few places, bonfire evenings, and the kind of slow traveller conversation that made Jibhi famous before the influencers arrived. Accommodation: treehouses, riverside camps, and traditional homestays range from ₹1500-3000. The road from Aut via Banjar is in good condition.
