Mahabaleshwar Atmalinga Temple — one of the seven Mukti Sthalas per Skanda Purana (the site where Ravana set down the Atmalinga that Ganesha tricked into rooting) — at full schedule (6am-12.30pm/5-8.30pm). The Maha Shivaratri festival (variable date late February or early March, 2026 falls February 15) is the temple's annual peak — 50,000-plus pilgrims through Gokarna town in 36 hours, all-night chanting, Atmalinga special darshan. Kotitirtha tank ritual bathing at peak. Mirjan Fort (40km north, 16-17 c Chennabhairadevi capital — ASI-protected, free entry, 9am-5pm) at year-cleanest.
