Kumbharia Jain Temples 24 km west are open but the marble courtyards become uncomfortable after 9am. Koteshwar Mahadev riverside Shiva temple 10 km away offers the most comfortable microclimate. Hotel rates are at annual lows. Hotel power load increases significantly with AC demand. The single saving grace is the pre-monsoon dramatic sky in late May, but the heat penalty makes even photography uncomfortable. The honest May verdict: avoid Ambaji unless on essential family pilgrimage.
