Aalo in July
Arunachal Pradesh, India
Peak monsoon flooding makes roads impassable and landslides frequent
July in Aalo runs the wettest stretch of the entire Eastern Himalayan calendar. Monthly rainfall lands at 700-900mm — the highest of any month — and the Aalo-Mechuka road closes for 4-6 multi-day stretches across the month. The Likabali-Aalo NH-13 itself takes 2-3 closure events as the Brahmaputra-side feeders flood. Daytime 24-29C with 88-92 percent humidity makes drying clothes nearly impossible. The Yomgo and Siang are dangerously flooded — locals avoid the riverbanks. Power cuts run 5-8 hours daily. Aalo town functions for residents but tourism infrastructure (hotels, taxis, Donyi Hango Hotel restaurant) operates skeleton hours. There is no day-visitor trip that works in July. The next functional window is mid-October.
