Why it mattersSinthan Top offers one of the most dramatic mountain passes in J&K, bridging the Kashmir Valley with the Chenab region.
January buries Sinthan Top under deep snow — 3,748m, -15 to -5°C. The pass connecting Kashmir Valley to Kishtwar is completely closed. The road (NH-244) is impassable. The meadows that bloom in summer are frozen under a white expanse. Even the nearest settlements are largely snowbound. This is one of J&K's newest tourist roads and January is not its time.
Live in Sinthan Top
Forest rest house in a walnut grove below Sinthan Top. The only accommodation option. Basic but surrounded by pristine forest. The caretaker doubles as a fishing guide for the nearby trout streams.
