August at Ross Island is July with marginally fewer wet days. Rainfall settles to 410-440mm. Aberdeen Jetty crossings to Ross run perhaps two days in the week, and even on running days the small boats often turn back partway. The light-and-sound show remains dark for the season - lighting rigs and audio kit are stored under tarpaulin in the operator yard. The open ruins are wet underfoot, the lawns are flooded in patches, and the deer remain in canopy. The Cellular Jail show in Port Blair continues to be the substitute most travelers fall back on. There is no version of the Ross half-day that delivers value in August. Wait for November.
