Ratnagiri in October
Maharashtra, India
Go October — Ratnagiri returns, fort and palace cool, beaches firming up, shoulder-rate sweet spot.
Peak crowds
October is one of Ratnagiri's busiest months. The score rates conditions — weather, access, value — not how many people you'll share them with. April-May for mangoes. October-February for comfortable weather. It's never really crowded except Ganesh Chaturthi.
October is Ratnagiri's post-monsoon return. The SW monsoon withdraws by Oct 5-10, the Arabian Sea calms through the month, Bhatye and Mandvi-Aare-Ware beaches firm up after monsoon erosion, Ratnadurg Fort basalt steps and pathways dry-foot safe, Thibaw Palace at its post-monsoon-museum-best, and the Konkan Railway runs its full Mumbai-Madgaon schedule. Temperatures hold 23-31°C with humidity dropping to the 60s. Heritage stays come back to full menus at shoulder-rate pricing (20% below December peak).
