Rajkot in July
Gujarat, India
Skip for first-time visits; consider only for monsoon-photo travel.
July is Rajkot's active monsoon month — 26-33°C, SW-monsoon rain rolling through (the Saurashtra rainfall is lower than southern Gujarat but still meaningful), and the Aji Dam reservoir filling dramatically. The Saurashtra grasslands turn green for the first time in eight months.
The July story
Kaba Gandhi No Delo and Watson Museum operate normally — interiors unaffected by rain. Aji Dam reservoir at sunset photographs beautifully against monsoon skies. Kathiawadi food scene at AC restaurants continues. Khambhalida Buddhist Caves day-trip (70km) weather-dependent, the open-air caves can be muddy. Wankaner Palace AC interior workable. Imperial Palace and Marasa Sarovar pool decks have covered cabanas. Hotel rates 30-40 percent off. Onward Gir National Park closed Jun 16-Oct 15. July is monsoon-photographer's month only; first-time Rajkot heritage visitors should wait for Nov-Feb.
