Signature: Doodh peda (Rajkot-style)
Founded 1933 — 92 years old, the Rajkot peda that most Saurashtri diaspora orders before flying back to the UK/East Africa. Exports peda boxes worldwide. The peda is denser and lower-sugar than the Mathura/Vrindavan style; closer to a soft mawa burfi than the typical North Indian peda. Tripadvisor 4.5 on its dedicated listing.
Tip: Pick up the peda morning-of, not afternoon — turnover means earlier batches are denser, more recent ones softer. The Panchnath Plot original is better than the Yagnik Road branch; the kesar peda is the second order to take. Skip the kaju katli — they don't specialise.
Signature: Veg Mexican burrito and sizzlers
Rajkot's reference Mexican-multi-cuisine — Tripadvisor 4.1, ranked #8 in city. Pure-veg, mid-price, popular with student and family crowds on Yagnik Road. The burrito and Mexican rice section is uncommonly well-executed for a Gujarati city.
Tip: The burrito is the order — proper portion, proper bean filling. Skip the Italian and continental sides. Lunch buffet (weekday) is the cheapest way to sample the multi-cuisine spread.
Signature: Unlimited Gujarati thali
The Race Course Ring Road branch of the Ahmedabad-origin Gordhan Thal — Tripadvisor #7 of 200+ in Rajkot, 4.0 rating. Same unlimited Gujarati thali recipe as the Ahmedabad mothership, faster service, lower price point. Wins for the side of the city furthest from the 150 Ft Ring Road restaurant cluster.
Tip: Lunch hours (12-3pm) are stronger than dinner. Order the puran poli specifically — Rajkot's version is slightly different from Ahmedabad's (more ghee, thinner roll). Skip if you've already done Grand Thakar; it's the same form factor.
Signature: Khaman dhokla and ragda pattice
Jalaram is the University Road default for student/walk-up snacks — Tripadvisor 4.7, ranked #45 of 166 in Rajkot. Khaman is fluffier than the Surati style, more turmeric in the colour. Ragda pattice is the second order. Cash-and-stand-up model, no AC, no frills.
Tip: Evening 5-8pm is the peak window — khaman comes out hot from the steamer every 20 minutes. Take the dabeli (Kutchi-style) along with the khaman for a study in two Saurashtra/Kutch street snacks. Cash-friendly; smaller notes recommended.

Imperial Heights rooftop on 150 Feet Ring Road — Tripadvisor 4.3, ranked #9 in Rajkot. The sit-down fine-dining default in Rajkot for non-thali occasions: weddings, anniversaries, work dinners. Colourful family-friendly decor; menu is multi-cuisine but the tandoor section is the strongest.
Tip: Sit on the open-air side, not the indoor AC section. The veg sizzler is the order — it's loud, hot, kid-friendly. Avoid the Mexican section; the kitchen overreaches there. Reservations on Saturday are mandatory.
Signature: Wood-fired pizza
Tripadvisor 4.6, ranked #2 in Rajkot — the city's reference Italian. Wood-fired oven, short menu, cleaner execution than the multi-cuisine Italian sections elsewhere. Wins as the palate-reset venue after 3 days of Kathiyawadi thali.
Tip: Margherita is the test pie. Skip the heavily-loaded pizzas; the oven handles the simpler ones better. Pasta is a tier below the pizza; choose the kitchen's strength. Evening 7-9pm is the peak window.
