North Bay Island in June
Andaman & Nicobar Islands, India
Skip — small-boat access from Port Blair restricted in monsoon swells; sea-walk and snorkeling operators close. Better window: November–April.
June at North Bay is closed in everything but name. The 20-minute Phoenix Bay crossing is among the first sailings to cancel in any sea state because the route is exposed and the boats used are smaller than the inter-island ferries. Operators run perhaps two days in the week, often cancelling within an hour of departure. Rainfall hits 400-450mm. Underwater visibility on the rare day a boat reaches the reef collapses to 5-8m. Sea-walk operations suspend entirely - the helmets and the surface umbilical lines cannot be deployed in chop. Beginner scuba is also off. Air 25-29C is mild but it does not matter. The next clean window starts in October. Picking it up here is a refunds-and-rebookings exercise.
