Sisters Bazaar.
Landour day-tourists do Char Dukan and turn back; Sisters is another 1.5km uphill on a quiet road most don't know exists.WHY NOBODY KNOWS
A short row of shops in upper Landour named for the British Army nurses who staffed the convalescent home here in the 1830s. The current cluster around Prakash's Stores and A. Prakash & Co. dates from 1928. They still sell handmade peanut butter, lemon marmalade, cured cheese, and walnut-fudge in jars labelled by hand. Ruskin Bond shops here on his rounds; ask at the bookshop next door. Best: Mar-Jun and Sep-Nov. Some shops shut Tuesdays. Open roughly 9am-6pm; closed on heavy snow days in Jan-Feb.. Reach: From Landour clock tower / Char Dukan, walk 1.5km uphill on the Sisters Bazaar road. Cars allowed but parking is tight.. Tip: Carry cash — UPI is patchy and the older shopkeepers prefer paper. Their peanut butter and rosehip jam are the items to actually buy. Combine with Lal Tibba viewpoint (another 1km up). Tea at the bakery counter while you decide..
