Cultural Context
The Blue City — named for the indigo-painted houses of the Brahmin quarter visible from massive Mehrangarh Fort. The fort is arguably the most impressive in all of Rajasthan, rising 125m above the city. Jodhpur was the capital of the Marwar kingdom and retains a raw, lived-in character that Jaipur has polished away.
