Bhavishya Badri.
Joshimath has been geologically unstable since 2023, and Bhavishya Badri sits in an even quieter offshoot beyond Tapovan. No tour buses run; you need a private vehicle.WHY NOBODY KNOWS
A small Vishnu temple at Subain village 17km east of Joshimath toward Tapovan. The local prophecy — credited to a Sanat Kumar text — says when the arm of the Narsingh idol in Joshimath finally breaks, the route to Badrinath will become impassable, and the deity here will become the new Badri. The temple's stone idol is said to be slowly emerging from the rock face year by year. Best: May-Jun and Sep-Nov. Closed Dec-Apr by snow. Check road status post-2023 subsidence — some Joshimath access points remain affected.. Reach: 17km east of Joshimath via Tapovan toward Lata. Last 2-3km is steep and rough; 4WD or local taxi recommended (Rs 2000-3000 round trip from Joshimath).. Tip: No fee. Modest dress. Carry water and snacks — no shops at the temple. The road past Tapovan can close on short notice for slides; check at the Joshimath BRO/police post that morning. Combine with a Tapovan hot spring stop on the way back..
