Dwarka in May
Gujarat, India
Skip — defer to Nov-Feb. May breaks the entire Dwarka experience.
May is Dwarka's hardest month — peak coastal heat at 28-39C with high humidity, exposed Jagat Mandir plaza unusable for most of the day, and Bet Dwarka ferry an exposed-deck ordeal. Pilgrim infrastructure operates with reduced hours and minimal seafront aarti.
The May story
There's no version of May at Dwarka that makes the Krishna-home story shine. Jagat Mandir opens, Nageshwar darshan happens, Bet Dwarka ferry continues — but the cool Arabian Sea evenings that make the city memorable simply don't exist in May. Saurashtra-circuit locals defer pilgrim trips. Char Dham circuits arriving in May for force-majeure reasons should restrict to 5:30-9am temple windows and post-7:30pm seafront walks, with the AC of Lords Inn or Toran GTDC as recovery time. Otherwise, wait — November-February is the city the marine archaeologists meant.
