Monsoon debris still clouds the sacred confluence waters you'd come to see
September draws back the monsoon curtain. By the third week, the Bhagirathi begins to clear, the sangam starts recovering its colour contrast, and Devprayag's ghats re-emerge from receding waters. Temperatures: 18-28°C. The Char Dham season enters its final phase.
The September story
Late September Devprayag rewards patience. The sangam is not yet at January clarity but the two rivers are differentiating again — a preview of the winter masterpiece. The ghats are accessible, slippery with river deposits but walkable. Post-monsoon light is warm and clean. The pilgrimage traffic thins but does not stop, and the Raghunath temple maintains its rhythm. The drive from Rishikesh is spectacular — every hillside is green, every drainage has a waterfall, and the Ganga below changes character every bend. Rooms: ₹500-1,200/night.
