Zip-lining in North India: Where, How High, and Is It Worth It

# Zip-lining in North India

Zip-lining in India ranges from 50m hotel novelties to 1km valley crossings. Here is what is actually worth the ticket price.

Neemrana Fort (Rajasthan)

300m zip line across the 15th-century fort. You fly over the ramparts and land on a lower bastion. Rs 2,000. The fort setting makes it — the zip itself is moderate. Best combined with a Neemrana Fort Palace visit.

Rishikesh — Flying Fox

The longest zip line in India at the time of opening. Crosses a valley near Shivpuri. Rs 2,000. Can be combined with bungee at Jumping Heights (same operator area).

Manali — Solang Valley

Multiple zip-line operators at Solang. Lengths vary (100-400m). Rs 500-1,500. Quality varies wildly — check harness and cable condition visually before going. The legitimate operators display safety certifications.

Dhanaulti (Uttarakhand)

Eco-park zip line through deodar forest. 200m. Rs 500. Family-friendly. The forest setting is lovely. Not an adrenaline experience — more scenic.

Honest Verdict

Zip-lining is the least memorable adventure activity in the Himalayas. If you have time and budget for only one activity: choose rafting (Rishikesh), paragliding (Bir), or bungee (Rishikesh) over any zip-line. Zip-lines are filler content on adventure itineraries.
