February warms to 8-24°C. Still excellent for haveli exploration. The painted towns — spread across roughly 100km of semi-arid terrain — require car or arranged transport. Each town has its own character: Mandawa is the most tourist-ready, Nawalgarh has the finest paintings, Fatehpur has scale, Ramgarh has ruined grandeur. February light is warm and directional — ideal for photographing painted facades.

Stay inside a painted haveli — 200-year-old frescoes in the courtyard, on your bedroom wall, everywhere. The owner's family commissioned the paintings generations ago. Walking distance to all major havelis.

Time dinner around dusk — the lawn fills with peacocks at that hour and the buffet starts at sundown. The owners run horse-safari programmes; non-residents can book a riding-and-dinner combo.

The lawn dinner with the fire dancer is a fixed-evening event — confirm at booking, not on arrival. Order the ker sangri specifically; it's the regional dish least often done well outside heritage kitchens.

Order the thali, not à la carte — the kitchen runs on set-plate efficiency. Ask for "bajra roti" specifically (not wheat); they'll bring two at a time as you eat. Pair with the malai-topped lassi which is the right finisher. Cash only; UPI sometimes works. Closed Tuesdays.
