Sunset is the slot — arrive 5pm, order the duck curry, watch the swans on Joysagar. The boat ride (₹200/half-hour for the boat, not per person) is run by the restaurant. Pan-Asian menu is a distraction; stick to Upper Assamese here.

Service is sometimes 45-60 minutes — order before sightseeing the Talatal Ghar / Rang Ghar, not after. Ask for the Assamese thali, not the multi-cuisine menu — the Indian-Chinese is forgettable.

Pair with a Rang Ghar visit — the monument is three kilometres from town and Maar Akhol is the closest non-veg lunch stop. Closed irregularly outside tourist months; phone ahead.
