Sandakphu-Phalut Trek is a moderate 6-day, 55 km trek, topping out at 3,636 m. The route takes in Only place to see 4 of world's 5 highest peaks simultaneously; Famous Sleeping Giant/Sleeping Buddha view of Kanchenjunga range; Spring rhododendron forests in spectacular bloom; Walk along India-Nepal border ridge. Best months: March–May and October–December. Watch points: Altitude sickness possible above 3000m; extremely cold at Sandakphu/Phalut in winter (below -10°C); land Rover tracks can be dusty — not a wilderness trail. Fitness level: intermediate, permits required, not recommended for children under 14. Nearest hospital: Darjeeling District Hospital — 60km from Manebhanjan, 3 hours. Basic first aid at Sandakphu. Network coverage: Patchy Airtel/Jio at Tumling and Sandakphu. No coverage between stops and at Phalut.
