Roopkund Mystery Lake is a hard 7-day, 53 km trek, topping out at 4,800 m. The route takes in Mystery skeleton lake; 4800m altitude; Ali Bugyal meadow. Best months: May–June and September–October. Watch points: Permit required since 2020; very high altitude; weather unpredictable. Fitness level: high, not recommended for children under 14. Nearest hospital: PHC Wan Village. CHC Tharali 45km. Serious cases: District Hospital Chamoli 80km. Helicopter evacuation possible from Bedni Bugyal. Network coverage: BSNL weak at Lohajung. Zero signal from Wan village onwards. No coverage at any campsite or Roopkund. Satellite phone recommended for emergencies.
