Where the Mahabharata was fought and birds still gather

The plains state wrapped around Delhi's south, west and north. Kurukshetra is the Mahabharata battlefield where the Bhagavad Gita was delivered; Sultanpur National Park hosts ~250 bird species across November–March; Pinjore Gardens is the Mughal-era stepped garden 22 km north of Chandigarh; Morni is the only meaningful hill station, ~1,200 m. Mostly a transit state, but the National Capital Region's expressways make day trips practical. 3 destinations across the state.
