Jyotisar - jyoti (light) plus sar (essence) - is the spot tradition holds where Krishna delivered the Bhagavad Gita to Arjuna under a banyan. The current tree is held to be a descendant of the original. A 40-foot Krishna-and-chariot bronze marks the teaching site, and the evening light-and-sound show recreates the dialogue. The new Bhagavad Gita and Mahabharata theme museum opening in phases through 2026 will absorb the next layer of visitor traffic - go now while it's still uncrowded mornings.
Sheikh Chilli (Abd-ur-Rahim) was the Qadiriyya Sufi master of Mughal prince Dara Shikoh - the heterodox philosopher-prince Aurangzeb later executed. The white marble dome over the saint's tomb is one of the cleanest Mughal funerary forms in Haryana, the adjacent Pather Masjid carries low-relief floral ceilings, and the ASI museum displays excavation finds across six cultural periods from Kushana to Mughal. The closest sit-down restaurant to Brahma Sarovar — pilgrims arriving for the Solar Eclipse mela default here for a clean veg thali after the parikrama.
Tip: Lunch buffet runs 12:30-3pm and is the value pick on weekdays; à la carte takes 25 minutes when the 80-cover hall fills up on weekends.

Pure-veg roll counter that locals send Kurukshetra University students to — paneer kathi rolls, fast service, the no-onion-no-garlic option for ekadashi visitors.
Tip: The Jain version of paneer roll is on the back of the menu — ask for it explicitly; it's milder and works better as a takeaway after the Brahma Sarovar evening aarti.

Haryana Tourism's Pipli-road tourist complex restaurant — clean, AC, large parking, on the standard Delhi-Chandigarh highway pause. The default lunch stop for tour buses doing the war-battlefield route.
Tip: Ask for the kitchen's Haryanvi-special bajra khichdi off-menu in winter — they make it for staff and will plate it on request.

One of the few sit-downs in town that does proper Haryanvi-village food — bajra-roti, kachri sabzi, and kadhi made the Haryana way (sour-sharp, not Punjabi-sweet).
Tip: Order the Haryanvi thali only at lunch — bajra roti is hot off the chulha then; dinner reheated bajra roti is dense.

Urban Estate pure-veg multi-cuisine for the university crowd — dosas in the morning, North Indian thalis at lunch, Indo-Chinese after 6pm. Cheap, clean, AC.
Tip: Their masala dosa lands in three minutes flat — the kitchen runs two tawas in parallel; it's the morning order if you're trying to make the 9am Brahma Sarovar light show.

In April's 40°C heat, a private pool you don't share with tour groups is a concrete advantage. Group of 4–6 splitting the cost compresses per-head to ₹1,700–2,500.
