Highlights
Logistics
Drive from Delhi (6hrs) or take the overnight bus (arrive 5AM, fresh start). Rafting is best Sep-Nov and Mar-May. Monsoon (Jul-Aug) = no rafting, river too high. Kids under 10 not allowed on rafting trips.
Day by Day
Early morning drive or overnight bus arrival. Check into Tapovan/Laxman Jhula area. Afternoon: Beatles Ashram (Chaurasi Kutia — the graffiti-covered meditation centre). Evening: Ganga aarti at Triveni Ghat. Walk the hanging bridges.
Morning: White-water rafting from Shivpuri (16km, 3-4hrs, Grade 3 rapids). Afternoon: recover at a riverside cafe. Optional cliff jumping at Shivpuri. Sunset yoga session at one of the ashrams — Parmarth Niketan is the big one.
Morning yoga class if you're keen (most ashrams start at 6AM). Quick visit to Ram Jhula side. Drive back to Delhi after lunch. You'll hit Delhi by evening.
