Where to eat

  • Mughal Darbar

    Legendary
    Residency Road · ₹₹

    Signaturetabak maaz with rogan josh

If wazwan feels heavy, order the harissa with kandur tchot bread between November and February — it is not on the standard menu but the kitchen serves it from a separate counter in the morning.

  • Sher Barbeque Cafeteria

    Legendary
    Khayam Chowk · ₹

    Signaturemutton seekh kebab

Order by the dozen; portions are calibrated for that. The chutneys (mint, walnut, tomato) are part of the experience — don't skip them.

  • Lhasa Restaurant

    Legendary
    Boulevard Road · ₹₹

    Signaturemutton fried momos

The fried momos are what locals order — steamed momos are competent but the kitchen's fryer is the Lhasa speciality. Garden seating is functional rather than scenic; come for the food, not the view.

  • The Chinar — The LaLiT Grand Palace

    Legendary
    Dal Lake · ₹₹₹

    Signaturekashmiri wazwan degustation

If you only want one wazwan in Srinagar and you're willing to pay for it, this is the proper sit-down version. Book the wazwan platter (₹3,000-ish per head) at least four hours ahead — it's slow-cooked and they need notice.
